My Watson connection

The first Watson in my direct line is my 3x great grandmother Margaret Watson born 1818 in Ulgham (pronounced Uffam) in Northumberland. Her father is my 4x great grandfather William Watson who must have been born before 1800. Since Watson is a very common name I was hopeful that the locational information that Margaret was born in Ulgham might make it easier to dig out more information about her parents. I have now taken a look at many Ulgham Watsons and have still not identified marriage or birth records for the correct William.

As of February 2012 Margaret Watson holds the position of my most distant matrilineal ancestor. That is to say that we arrive at her by following my mother, my maternal grandmother and on further up the line of mothers.
