My Davis connection

It took me 6 months of research to even realise I had a Davis connection. I thought initially that my maternal grandfather’s mother was a Doleman. A theory wrongly based on his middle name (Jonathan Doleman Webb). However, half a year into my research my aunt unearthed an apprenticeship application hidden away in her cupboard which gave my great grandmother’s name as Mary Davis. The trail from there was hard to follow as this is a fairly common name, but I eventually tracked down her birth in Mere Whitwood in Yorkshire in 1868. My 2x great grandfather is George Davis. I think he was born in Staffordshire about 1834 but have yet to find documentary evidence.
